Formen’s Formenlehre is a series of electro-acoustic études based on constraint and repetition. Each installment comprises two twelve-minute études, each centered on a single sound source and explored through modulation and performance.

Every étude is played and recorded live six times—no overdubs, no edits, no corrections. Variations arise from mixing decisions, structural shifts, and the dynamics of repeated performance. One of the six performances is released as a digital download on Bandcamp. The remaining five are individually cut to dubplates and then intentionally deleted from the artist’s storage: these analog-only versions exist solely on their respective records.

The twelve-minute limit functions as a compositional constraint, demanding new writing and performance strategies; the lathe-cut editions transform the material into unique objects, detaching the medium from mass production and foregrounding the singularity of each performance.

Formenlehre is, in many respects, an irreproducible study of form, sound, and disappearance.
