Empty Space - Dubplate Service Flyer
2025 | ES-019 | Printed Matter
In spring 2025, Empty Space developed a flyer for its dubplate service. Conceived as both an announcement and an invitation, it introduced the platform’s lathe-cutting practice to artists, musicians, DJs, institutions, and collectors.
Built around an oversaturated image of a stylus tracing a record groove, the design emphasizes the physical relationship between playback technology and recorded sound. It presents the dubplate not merely as a carrier of music, but as a custom-made object shaped through an artisanal process.
The reverse outlines the materials, conditions, and pricing that defined the service at the time. As the studio and cutting process have since evolved, these details are no longer current; the flyer remains as a document of an early phase in Empty Space’s dubplate-cutting practice.
